At Roaring Toyz, we love building custom sportbikes for our men and women in uniform. The latest member of our military to get the Roaring Toyz touch on his motorcycle is Alex Dunlap, who started getting compliments on his 2005 GSX-R1000 about five minutes after he rode out of our shop.Alex is stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. He serves as an Aviation Resource Manager, which means he handles mission planning and management, among other things. That officially makes Alex badass, as far as we’re concerned.Alex brought his GSX-R1000 to Roaring Toyz after meeting us at Atlantic Beach Bike Fest. “I met Bob at Myrtle Beach a few years ago and I liked the work that he did. His orange ZX-14 is probably my favorite bike still. He did an amazing job on that bike,” Alex says.During the design process, Alex already knew what he wanted done to his ride. “When we went in I had to pick out the rims that I wanted and go over the design, but I had an idea of what I wanted,” he says. He’s quick to add, “You can’t really imagine it until you see it. They do an amazing job.” (Thanks, Alex!)

Alex picked up his custom GSX-R1000 when it was done and rode home. Just a few miles from our shop, Alex was sitting at a traffic light when several guys pulled up next to him. They honked their horns and gave Alex a thumbs-up.

More of that kind of attention will be waiting for Alex when he goes to Atlantic Beach Bike Fest this year. “I’m going to go to Myrtle Beach with something that I know people will enjoy. It’s not a bike I’ve dumped tens of thousands of dollars into, but it’s a very good-looking bike. I smile just thinking about it. It’s amazing what some pieces and a good custom shop can do for you,” Alex says.

In fact, Alex is so excited about showing off his newly customized sportbike at Myrtle Beach that he is postponing back surgery just so he can go. Now that’s some serious dedication. To Alex, we say thank you for your service, and thanks for reppin’ Roaring Toyz at Atlantic Beach Bike Fest!
